Agriculture has a special place in India, the importance of agriculture in the country is very high. Because agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. Agriculture in India has been done since the time of Indus Valley Civilization. After 1960, a new era came with the Green Revolution in the field of agriculture in the country. About 51% of the total area of ​​India is arable and about 52% of the total labor force of the country, agriculture and allied industries and businesses make their livelihood. And 70% of the people in the country depend on agriculture.


Timely access to information is an important requirement for information and decision making in agriculture and agriculture related sectors in India. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the country is facilitating rapid access and exchange of information. Mobile phone usage is on the rise among ICTs with many services provided by various agencies. Mobile phones have brought a sudden transformation to rural India through digital technologies, resulting in the development of many mobile applications by government departments, agricultural institutions and the private sector. There are several mobile apps that specifically try to address the concerns of the farmer. Farmers are using these apps for crop related information, about modern farming, weather, plant protection and other advice to find out market price (mandi bhav).


Applications based on agri-services have contributed a lot to strengthen the agriculture sector in India. At present, mobile phone facility is available with almost all the farmers in almost every section and area. In India, young farmers are showing their interest in agriculture. Young farmers are using modern agricultural techniques through applications. With the use of modern techniques, farmers have started getting ease of cultivation, saving time and increasing income.
